| A House and a Window |
[Jul. 12th, 2009|11:29 am] |

Another body house. This was drawn on the plane on the way to New York City for MoCCA. Ed had picked me up at 1am or something crazy like that, so we could drive down to Seattle and fly from there. So I was probably pretty pooped at the time of drawing. The person house isn't perfect but it does convey what I was envisioning. The jet had a strange pattern on the wallpaper, which I didn't really capture. And there was just a vast plane of white with blue above it outside the window, which you also can't tell from the drawing.

Shaenon Garrity reports that The Cartoon Art Museum of San Francisco is organizing Monsters of Webcomics, and will be putting together a gallery of as many other webcomics as possible - here's a chance for a bit of outreach!
I've put together a page of all the webcomic creators that are attending the San Diego Comic-Con. Additions, corrections and even snarky comments are encouraged. Unfortunately, if you weren't already planning to go, it's too late to let this list persuade you - attending memberships sold out weeks ago. |

| Simon's Second Birthday Party |
[Jul. 11th, 2009|11:38 pm] |
|
Toda we celebrated my nephew Simon's second birthday party! We went to Zoomars Petting Zoo in San Juan Capistrano for the party. They gave us a nice picnic area. There were cowboy hats, bandannas and sheriff badges as party favors. Plus everyone got tokens for pony rides, train rides and carrot baskets. We brought trays of food, sandwiches, salads, fruits and vegetables. Plus, we had ordered tiny cupcakes decorated with farm animals and the digit 2. I helped decorate by blowing up balloons. So a lot of friends came, a lot of little kids. I got to see some of my cousins, and that was nice. There were plenty of animals there: ponies, goats, sheep, a cow, some llamas, emus, parakeets, geese, pigs, bunnies and guinea pigs. There were little baskets for feeding the animals, filled with carrot sticks, lettuce leaves, broccoli florets and diced apples. I want around giving tidbits to as many animals as I could. The emus were aggressive when it comes to getting food, the goats were even more so. So Simon enjoyed a few rides on the ponies and the little train. Eventually, we packed up and went back to the house. But we all had a great time! |

| Cartoon Art Museum Call for Webcomics |
[Jul. 11th, 2009|09:23 pm] |
The Cartoon Art Museum of San Francisco (www.cartoonart.org) is organizing "Monsters of Webcomics," a showcase of cutting-edge webcomics work. The show's ten spotlight artists have already been selected. However, the museum also wants to include a virtual gallery of as many other webcomics as possible. If you're interested in having your art included in the virtual gallery, email curator Andrew Farago at gallery@cartoonart.org.
Feel free to spread this information around the webcomics community. The museum wants a wide range of comics included in the show.
Here's the press release:
Monsters of Webcomics August 8 - December 6, 2009
The Internet has revolutionized all forms of communication, and comics are no exception. The Cartoon Art Museum explores the digital revolution in its latest exhibition, Monsters of Webcomics, a showcase of some of the best and boldest work published on the World Wide Web.
Cartoonists choose to work on the Web for many reasons. For some, it’s an opportunity to reach readers directly without going through editors, publishers, or syndicates. For others, it’s a chance to explore the artistic possibilities of the Web, whether that means working in a format that would be impossible in print, tackling subject matter most comic-book publishers won’t handle, or taking advantage of the rich palette available with digital coloring. Others simply want to share their comics with as many people as possible.
The comics by the ten artists featured in this exhibition run the gamut from four-panel comic strips to full-length graphic novels and include comedy, drama, history, science fiction, and sociopolitical commentary. As varied as this work is, however, it represents only a very small sample of the comics available on the Web. The Monsters of Webcomics exhibition also includes a virtual gallery that will highlight dozens of additional online comics.
(IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: If you are a webcartoonist and would like to participate in the virtual gallery component of this historic exhibition, please e-mail C.A.M. Curator Andrew Farago at gallery@cartoonart.org)

| Zubby Darkstalkers Tribute |
[Jul. 10th, 2009|02:24 pm] |
I finally got around to posting up my Darkstalkers Tribute art piece of Hsien-Ko, the Chinese ghost. For those of you who don't know the character, she has all kinds of weapons and silly items up her sleeves that she attacks enemies with.
Like with my Street Fighter Tribute pic from last year we were free to interpret the character our own way, which was a blast.

We're still taking online orders for the limited edition hardcover edition of the book for another 3 days, so if you want a copy and aren't attending Otakon, San Diego Comicon, Toronto Fan Expo or PAX, this is your last chance. |

| Icebergs and Keyholes |
[Jul. 10th, 2009|07:07 am] |
| [ | Current Music |
| | I'm from Barcelona - Rufus | ] | I was still thinking about bodies and houses and things. So: body as landscape, face as iceberg. And I like the idea of a body with a keyhole. Also, the image of someone raising their shirt or opening their shirt to show something is quite intriguing to me.

| Alienated |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|05:54 pm] |
|
Hey guys! Our comic went live a few weeks ago so we figured we should tell people about it. Alienated is the story of what happens after the world grows tired of the first alien, and his first attempt to try and go out into the world. It’s a story about first love in your thirties, growing up, and maniacal morons who couldn’t plot their way out of their own skulls.
Alienated: A romantic comedy about an alien. Doesn’t get more basic than that.
